Travel

We've chosen to get married in Derbyshire, in the UK. It's close to where Joe grew up and is nestled right in a part of England's countryside called the Peak District. Unless you're British, in which case you just call it 'Up north'.

Getting to Derbyshire

If you're coming from London, then trains take around 1.5 hours from London St Pancras to Derby, with no changes. There are plenty of taxis and Ubers from Derby station. It's 20 minutes from there to the venue by car. We recommend not travelling up on the same day unless you leave plenty of time.

If you're coming from the USA, the nearest airport is East Midlands Airport, but it is small and has limited connections. We recommend instead flying in to Manchester (90 mins away by car), or London Heathrow (see above).

Getting Around in the UK

London is a huge city and very well connected. Ubers are plentiful, but locals use buses or the underground and pay with contactless. We recommend the free Citymapper app for finding your way around the city, if needed.

Derby is a mid-sized city, but public transport is poor. You can use Uber to find taxis, or find cabs at the train station. Otherwise, we recommend renting a car if you want to explore outside of the main cities of Sheffield and Derby.

Derby Station, also known as Derby Midland Station, isn't the most glamorous location, but it is convenient. You can get an Uber or a taxi from the station.
